One Shot wins the Nut Bowl

(VFF HQ - 1-5-2011) The One Shot had more then one shot left as they the Jedi Knights in the 2010 Nut Bowl to win the 2010 VFF Championship. The game was very interesting and was very competitive. The Jedi Knigths had a 2 TD performance with Rshard Mendenhall while the GB defense scored 12 pts. The One Shot matched this with 2 TD's by Vernon Davis and 18 pts from the NYJ defense. But the One shot won with better QB play and a better Kicker. Tom Brady scored 12 pts and Nate Kaeding scored 23 pts, while the Jedi Knights only managed 5 pts from Aaron Rodgers and 6 pts from Josh Brown. Nate Kaeding received the MVP Trophy for his 23 pt performance.

Owner, Jim Rochotte was very proud with how the Jedi Knights handled the loss. I am proud in winning the VFF Championship and how the Jedi Knights performed throughout the year and in dealing witht he loss. Sometimes you have to stay the course and get lucky to win. We will enjoy this win tonight!

Meanwhile, in the 2010 Toilet Bowl, the Card Sharks edged teh Top Dogs 38 - 22. The game was led by disappointing QB play with Phillip Rivers not scoring and Joe Flacco getting -1 pts. However, both teams did score TD's and the Card Sharks were led by Larry Fitzgerald who scored 8 pts to get the win. Fitzgerald recieved the MVP trophy for his performance.

In other VFF action, the Steel took 3rd place, the Geckos got 5th place and the Redboys got 7th place in the VFF.  Final Standings are published above and the final money rankings will be published on the VFF Website.

In the NFL Pickem Contest the Fuzzy Blue took the week. The FINAL standings are tied between two teams who will split the money with the Geckos and Redboys. Final standings are the Geckos - 4 wins, RedBoys - 4 wins, Card Sharks - 3 wins, Blue Bellies - 3 wins, Fuzzy Blue - 3 wins, and Crusaders - 1 win. In the VFF Pickem Contest, the Redboys took the week, while the Blue Bellies taking the year. The standings are now Blue Bellies - 6 wins, Fuzzy Blue - 4 wins, Crusaders - 4 wins, RedBoys - 4 wins and Card Sharks - 3 wins,

(MyFantasyLeague.com Fantasy Times Sources - Jan 2, 2011) In a week 17 Vacaville Fantasy Football intra-divisional battle, One Shot beat a strong Jedi Knights team by a score of 71 to 52, extending the winning streak for One Shot to 4 games.

Nate Kaeding

One Shot were led to their 19 point victory by a 23 point effort from Nate Kaeding, who snuck past the Denver Broncos defense for 4 field goals made and 3 extra points. With this performance, Kaeding was the number 2 ranked overall fantasy scorer for week 17. They also got help from a 18 point effort from the New York Jets Defensive Team.

"I'm happy I could make a contribution," One Shot coach Jim Rochotte said.

Jedi Knights were helped out in a losing cause by a 12 point effort from Rashard Mendenhall, who snuck past the Cleveland Browns defense for 36 rushing yards and 2 rushing TDs in addition to 24 receiving yards. With this performance, Mendenhall was the number 3 ranked running back for week 17. They also got help from a 12 point effort from the Green Bay Packers Defensive Team.

"They ate our lunch," Jedi Knights coach Xander Stabile said.

This brings the record for One Shot to 8-5, and drops Jedi Knights to a record of 8-5.

Aaron Rodgers

Jedi Knights were led in week 16 by a 31 point effort from Aaron Rodgers, who tore apart the New York Giants defense for 404 passing yards and 4 passing TDs in addition to 26 rushing yards. Based on projections from FantasySharks.com, Jedi Knights can expect a 18 point effort from Aaron Rodgers in week 17, who is expected to get by the Chicago Bears defense for 250 passing yards and 3 passing TDs in addition to 20 rushing yards.

"We have to step up and make plays," Jedi Knights coach Xander Stabile said.

One Shot were led in week 16 by a 18 point effort from Tom Brady, who snuck past the Buffalo Bills defense for 140 passing yards and 3 passing TDs in addition to 13 rushing yards. In addition, LeSean McCoy was not injured before the start of his week 16 game, and contributed 0 points, but he's listed as out in week 17 due to an injured , which might severely limit his fantasy production. Based on projections from FantasySharks.com, One Shot can expect a 12 point effort from Tom Brady in week 17, who is expected to sneak past the Miami Dolphins defense for 180 passing yards and 2 passing TDs in addition to 10 rushing yards.

"There are no easy games in this league," One Shot coach Jim Rochotte said.

In week 13, One Shot defeated Jedi Knights by 27 points, so coach Xander Stabile is looking for revenge this week. In the 3-year history of this rivalry, Jedi Knights hold a 3-2-0 all-time series record against One Shot.
